On Thursday, Nvidia, the leader in computer graphics and AI accelerators, showcased various technologies at its GeForce RTX AI PC tour in Bengaluru, poised to change the course of both video gaming and game development. The company demonstrated RTX-powered solutions such as Nvidia Ace and Digital Humans, which aim to make gaming more immersive and personalised, leveraging Nvidia graphics cards that are already widely used in gaming PCs and laptops.

Nvidia revealed that PCs equipped with GeForce RTX graphics cards can deliver AI performance ranging from 200 to 1300 trillion operations per second (TOPs), far surpassing the AI capabilities of laptops with dedicated NPUs, which typically max out at 45 TOPs.

Nvidia also stated that there are already over 100 million users with the RTX graphics installed on their PCs, and that they can take advantage of the various AI solutions. According to the company, its graphics cards are broadly compatible with 500 plus AI software and solutions.

There are currently over 370 RTX AI games that support advanced features like DLSS 3 (AI-backed upscaling), RTX Remix (an AI tool for video game modding), LLM gaming advisors, and Nvidia Ace for games. Over 125 RTX-powered apps use AI for tasks such as photo and video editing, image generation, and more. Nvidia RTX GPUs are also compatible with leading open-source large language models (LLMs) like Google Gemini, Llama 2, Mistral, and OpenAI Whisper, and more.

Nvidia is also the fastest AI accelerator on a laptop (equipped with RTX 4090 laptop GPU), which can offer double the AI performance when compared to the Apple MacBook Pro with an M3 Max chip, where these machines can offer experiences like faster on-device chat experience (powered by an LLM) with support for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) along with support for features like enhanced video conferencing capabilities via Nvidia broadcast.

Nvidia also showcased several RTX AI-powered demos including Nvidia Ace, where a game like Mecha BREAK can utilise an on-device small language model to improve the conversational capabilities of an in-game characte. In Legends, Nvidia Ace can help the in-game character to identify people and objects with AI-powered vision capabilities.

Nvidia is branding this digital human technology, powered by an LLM, as a way to bring digital characters to life, using NVIDIA NeMotron-4 (NIMs), a small language model with 4 billion parameters.

Similarly, for video game development studios, Nvidia has solutions like NVIDIA Omniverse Audio2Face, which enables developers to generate facial animation and lip sync with just an audio source.

Nvidia has been offering several AI tools for its GeForce RTX graphics users such as ChatRTX, enabling users to run their own LLM along with (RAG) like a chatbot that works without the internet and without worrying about personal data being used to train a model. The company also has solutions like Nvidia Canvas, which can transform a simple brushstroke into a realistic-looking image.
