Microsoft Windows 11 is gaining a nifty new trick with the upcoming update. If you're a PC gamer who uses an Xbox controller, you’ll soon be able to navigate and type on your PC using the same controller. Windows 11 Build 22631.5116 is already available for Windows Insiders and will soon roll out to all eligible PCs. This update enables users to control the touch keyboard on Windows 11 with an Xbox controller, allowing for both navigation and typing. For example, the X button can function as a backspace, while the Y button acts as a spacebar. Also, when a controller is detected, the keyboard keys will be vertically aligned for easier navigation. The latest Windows 11 Insider build also brings improvements to File Explorer, gets a new settings homepage for commercial PCs, and has several bug fixes. Microsoft first began testing this feature in October 2024; however, it was later disabled in subsequent builds, reported Windows Central. The feature is believed to be designed to further optimise Windows 11 for the upcoming Xbox gaming handheld, codenamed "Project Kennan," co-developed by ASUS. The device is expected to be powered by an AMD Ryzen APU and may launch this year with a starting price of $499.
