We all know that Donald Trump, the billionaire real estate mogul and Republican party candidate, hogged most of the limelight at the first GOP debate moderated by Fox News on Thursday. But a new interactive designed by Google News Lab shows that Trump has been on top of the search trends too for most of the debate.

No points on why Trump was the most popular. At one point in the debate, he told the moderators that he made Hillary Clinton ‘obligated’ to attend his marriage after he made donations to her foundation and her Senate campaigns. Yes, that happened. Don’t believe us? Have a look.

The Google interactive, which clocked how people searched for a particular Republican candidate over the course of almost six hours, shows Trump leading for most of the time, barring an initial drop at the start of the debate. While Trump was consistently on top, perhaps the candidate who showed the most fluctuation in search trends was Marco Rubio, the senator from Florida. Rubio, according to the interactive, started out at the 15th spot, but quickly rose to end up at the 3rd spot when the ranking process was completed. Ben Carson, an author, who has also joined the crowded list of Republican contenders for the White House, finished second in the Google rankings.

In the main debate too, Trump, with his uncharacteristic answers, managed to stay on top of the Google search trends, though he was briefly displaced by Carson.

Google, also went a step further, and recorded search trends in each county across the US. As you can see the map, it’s all RED indicating tremendous and overwhelming popularity of Trump. There are tiny specks of support for Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio.

If you were wondering what issues found consonance among internet users during the debate, Google has an answer for that too.

According to the interactive, education, taxes and abortion were the top three searched terms during the GOP debate. Immigration, healthcare and same-sex marriage were some of the other issues which people were looking for on the internet. And the issues that people wanted to know from Trump included his views on abortion, immigration and gun control. Going by Google, people also wanted to know how old and tall Trump is along with his net worth.
