Asus launches its first MediaTek Kompanio 520 processor-powered Chromebook CM14 for Rs 26,990 on Wednesday. It is a compact laptop with a 14-inch 1080p display, powered by ChromeOS, and will be available exclusively via Amazon starting today. The Asus Chromebook CM14 is powered by the MediaTek Kompanio 520 processor with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, which is almost double that of most budget Chromebooks, which just offer 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, and there is also a dedicated microSD card slot for additional storage expansion. Asus is also offering a complementary Google One subscription with 100 GB of cloud storage for 12 months. The Kompanio 520 is a specially designed processor by MediaTek for Chromebooks with an octa-core CPU cluster along with the Arm Mali G52 MC2 2EE GPU. The processor also enables the latest wireless technologies like Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. Like most Arm-based processors, the Kompanio 520 should help Chromebook CM14 to deliver better battery life. Asus has included an upgraded 720p web camera on the Chromebook CM14 with features like a physical shutter for added privacy and face auto-exposure, which enhances the picture or audio quality by adjusting the brightness according to the environment, and the laptop also has a dual-array microphone, which should enable improved audio quality. In terms of software, it runs on the latest version of ChromeOS with support for Android apps, and it also has MIL-STD 810H US military-grade durability certification. A 42 Wh battery powers this laptop, which claims to offer up to 15 hours of battery life per charge, and it supports 45W fast charging via the USB-C port.
