Just a day after the global debut, HP India, on Wednesday, introduced two new Copilot+ branded laptops - EliteBook Ultra and OmniBook X for businesses and retail customers, respectively. Powered by the Snapdragon X Elite processor, these laptops are based on the ARM architecture and claim to offer better performance and power efficiency compared to x86-powered Windows PCs. The HP EliteBook Ultra is meant for enterprises and businesses and comes with a retail price of Rs 1,69,934, while the HP OmniBook X costs Rs 1,39,999 and is meant for retail customers. Both machines will be available for pre-order starting today via offline and online channels. HP will start shipping its Copilot+ PCs in four to six weeks starting today. Both machines include a 14-inch touchscreen with 2.2K resolution, and offer 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage. They also pack a 5 MP web camera with support for Windows Hello face unlock. HP calls these the "next-gen AI PCs" that offer on-device generative AI capability, backed by the Hexagon NPU that powers experiences like Paint Cocreator and the upcoming Recall, also known as photographic memory technology with up to 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS). Besides, HP has also baked in a lot of new AI features such as Spotlight and Auto Framing. HP claims that the EliteBook Ultra and OmniBook X can deliver up to 26 hours of battery life (video playback time) and these are part of HP's world's most sustainable PC portfolio. These laptops also run on the latest version of Windows 11 optimised for ARM with support for native ARM apps and can also emulate legacy x86 apps. Back in May, Microsoft, in collaboration with Qualcomm, announced over 20 new Copilot+ branded PCs, which include HP EliteBook Ultra and OmniBook X. Currently, only the Snapdragon X series powered PCs are labelled as Copilot+ PCs, as there aren't any other chips that have the required hardware to enable various on-device AI experiences. Due to the strategic agreement between Microsoft and Qualcomm, ARM-based PCs will only be available with the Snapdragon X Elite, and brands like MediaTek and AMD are expected to introduce their ARM chips in the second half of 2025.
