The Google Pixel lineup of smartphones are always first in line to receive the latest version of Android. According to a report by Android Authority, the Android 15 update for the Pixel 9 series will be made available in October, as the update is still not ready, whereas the Android 15 source code is expected to go live on September 3.
Google is known for releasing the source code of the latest version of Android and an update to the Pixel series of smartphones on the same day. Android 14 was released in October along with the Pixel 8 series, while Android 15 will go official in September, with the update only coming to the Pixel 9 series in October, which was introduced in August with Android 14 OS.

The Pixel 9 series arrived almost two months earlier compared to the Pixel 8, and the company is still said to be optimising the final build of Android 15 for it.
Despite the Pixel 9 series shipping with Android 14, it still packs several new AI features, and the new core Android functionalities will only be coming to the Pixel 9, Pixel 8, Pixel 7, and the Pixel 6 series of smartphones by mid-October. On top of that, the Pixel 8 and the Pixel 9 series of smartphones are eligible for seven years of software and security updates and will receive updates up to 2030.
However, enthusiasts and developers can install the Android 15 QPR1 build, which is much more stable than developer previews, and enables users to experience all the latest features of Android 15. Other Android OEMs like OnePlus have also started beta testing the Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 update, while Samsung is expected to release the Android 15-based One UI 7 beta for its latest flagships in the next few weeks.
