Apple’s 2019 iPhones will offer an improved Face ID experience, says analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This has been reported by 9to5Mac, which has quoted the Apple analyst saying that the upgraded sensor will be a part of the new iPhones. Like with this year’s models, Kuo states that Apple could stick to two OLED-based phones and an LCD-based iPhone.
According to Kuo, Apple will look to improve the flood illuminator from Face ID’s sensors, so that invisible light (such as ultraviolet or infrared) do not interfere with the software. While the Cupertino-based company also appears to be developing a 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) camera for its upcoming iPads, Kuo believes that the camera would not appear on next year’s iPhones. Instead, he believes that the company will aim to provide a ‘revolutionary AR experience’ by upgrading Apple Maps, besides 5G connectivity and augmented reality glasses.
Indicating that the new Apple iPads could be launched in the last quarter of 2019, or in early 2020, Kuo says that a ToF 3D camera will be introduced, so that 3D models can be captured by them. The ‘all-new productivity experience’, he says, will also allow improved functions to Apple Pencil. Recently, the company had introduced the 2018 iPad Pros with slimmer bezels and Face ID.

Rumours around the 2019 iPhone range have already begun to surface, and Apple is expected to stick to its current combination of smartphones. The newer phones can be expected to receive an improved TrueDepth front camera, with some suggesting that Apple could eliminate the notch. Others believe that some of the 2019 iPhones could hold triple-rear cameras, like their Android counterparts.
