Apple releases iOS 17.4.1 for iPhones with ‘important bug fixes and security updates’

Only two weeks after releasing the major iOS 17.4 update for eligible iPhones, Apple has now seeded another software update with ‘important bug fixes and security updates’ via iOS 17.4.1 (21E236). The software update is available for all iPhones starting with iPhone XS and newer models, and Apple recommends all iPhone users to install this latest software patch.

If you are already on iOS 17.4, the latest iOS 17.4.1 update is just around 17 MB in size, and the company is also shipping iPadOS 17.4.1 for eligible iPads. However, if you are on an earlier version of iOS, then the update size may vary.

iOS 17.4.1 is the latest version of iPhone software. While the update does not introduce any new features, it has been released to fix bugs and also serves as a security update. This is not a rapid security response, which is only released when there is a critical issue that needs to be patched immediately. After this update, if Apple releases a rapid security update, the same will be installed automatically and will prompt users to restart the iPhone if required.

A security update from Apple is released at the earliest to protect the customers, and the company does not disclose or discuss anything related to the security issue until the same has been rectified and a software patch has been released. For this version (iOS 17.4.1), Apple is yet to release the details; however, from the description of the update, it is pretty evident that this is an update that every user should install on eligible iPhones.
