Google Pixel 3 users are reporting overheating problems, which are also causing the device to shutdown. Users have taken to Reddit, Google’s Product forum and Twitter to complain about the latest problem plaguing the new Pixel phones.
One post says, “I am seeing issue of overheating while continuously using camera for 5-10 min and video call on whatsapp (15-20mins).” The user has also shared a screenshot of the warning message that the phone was overheating. Google is yet to issue a statement on the problem.
Another post on the forum notes that the Pixel 3 starts heating up when the user has the camera app open. Some reported that the device gets warm in just under an hour which causes the battery to drain very quickly. Others have also posted on Twitter about the Pixel 3 heating up when charging with the new wireless charging stand from the company.

Some users said that video-streaming or playing music, while the phone is on charging caused the device to overheat and then eventually shutdown. On Reddit users have posted that the overheating and shutdown happening during video calls.
One user said this happened during a WhatsApp call and another time during a Zoom call. Another commented saying they too are facing the same on the Pixel 3, and in their case using LINE app’s video chat causes the problem.

It also appears the problem exists irrespective of the charger being used. Be it the official Pixel 3 charger, Google’s Pixel Stand or a third-party charger. Google is yet to confirm whether it will issue a fix for the problem.
The latest overheating concern on the Pixel 3 series comes after users have complained about memory management issues with apps being force killed in the background, camera app not saving some photos, a bug that caused an extra notch to appear on the Pixel 3 XL’s side as well as issues with audio.
