Google’s Pixel Stand breaks Ambient Display notifications on the new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL phone, Android Police reports.  As per the site, the charging pad breaks the optional ambient notification settings on the Pixel 3 series.

Android Police claims that while the phone will still sound or vibrate, as usual, it will not show notification on the panel even when the ‘always on display’ mode is enabled. The only workaround to fix the bug is by rebooting the phone, that restores the ambient notifications to its ‘normal behaviour’.

However, the issue emerges the moment the Pixel phone is connected to the Pixel Stand. Android Police says that Google has confirmed that it is looking into the issue. Previous reports revealed that the Pixel Stand is the ‘only way’ to wirelessly charge the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL at 10W. The third-party wireless charger is limited to 5W.

Google Pixel Stand was launched alongside the new Pixel 3 lineup at the company’s ‘Made by Google’ event this October. The Pixel Stand was launched in the US at a price of $79 (or approx Rs 5,800). Meanwhile, in India, the wireless charging pad has been priced at Rs 6,900. The wireless charger turns the Pixel 3 into a photo frame or Google Assistant-powered smart speaker. The Pixel Stand can switch the phone into Do Not Disturb mode as well when it is docked at night.

Pixel 3 pricing in India starts at Rs 71,000 for the base variant and Rs 80,000 for the top-end variant. The Pixel 3 XL, on the other hand, costs Rs 83,000 for the base model and Rs 92,000 for the top-end model. Both the phones feature dual front cameras, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, a single 12.2MP rear camera and wireless charging support.
