OnePlus 6T launch event highlights: Screen Unlock, Nightscape shooting and a starting price of $549

OnePlus 6T base model now is 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, priced at $549, while 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option will cost $579. The higher-end 8Gb RAM and 256GB storage variant is priced at $629. OnePlus 6T will be first available at T-Mobile Times Square Signature Store starting 5PM on October 29. OnePlus Type C Bullets earphones launched, priced at around $19.

OnePlus 6T is powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor, same as OnePlus 6. For the new phone, OnePlus has improved gaming performance as it comes with Smart Boost. The feature uses RAM as storage for an improved gaming performance. Users will experience up to 20 per cent faster loading times with graphics-heavy games like PUBG. OnePlus 6T has a 23 per cent better battery life with a 3,700mAh battery.

OnePlus 6T ships with 16MP 20MP rear camera setup with f/1.7 aperture on both the lens. The camera also supports Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS). Users can also shoot 480fps slow-mo videos. New Nightscape mode introduced with HDR, noise reduction, and more. OnePlus 6T will also support studio lighting mode similar to Apple iPhone X.  

OnePlus says its 6.24-inch screen on OnePlus 6T is it's most immersive ever. The phone will have five calibaration settings including adaptive mode, custom colour and more. OnePlus 6T has a smaller notch and size of chin has also been improved. Thanks to a smaller chin, the antenna has been improved and it supports 233 carriers in 74 countries. OnePlus 6T will continue with a glass body design. It will be available in Mirror Black and MidnightBlack options at the time of launch.

OnePlus will be the first company to launch smartphone with in-display fingerprint sensor in the US. OnePlus claims this will be the fastest fingerprint sensor in the world. It is claimed to unlock the phone in just 0.34 seconds. Over time, it will become quicker and more responsive. OnePlus says it is as secure as a fingerprint sensor on OnePlus 6.

OnePlus 6T has been confirmed with a bigger 3,700mAh battery compared to a 3,400mAh on OnePlus 6. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed the phone will not support fast charging technology. OnePlus 6 uses the company's DashCharge fast charging technology. The new phone will not sport a 3.5mm headset jack, a big change from the previous phone. 

OnePLus 6T will be exclusive to Amazon in India, like other OnePlus devices. The India sale starts November 1. The phone can currently be pre-booked on the e-commerce site with offers from Amazon Pay, Citi Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Jio and more. Those who pre-book using Rs 1,000 email gift card can avail free Type C earphones, which will launch alongside OnePlus 6T as well as additional Amazon Pay balance.

OnePlus 6T will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, dubbed by the company as "Screen Unlock" and this was confirmed by the company in an email to CNET. Thanks to the feature, OnePlus 6T will be slightly thicker by 0.45mm when compared to OnePlus 6. It will replace a physical fingerprint sensor that we saw on the previous phone.

OnePlus 6T India launch is set for October 30 at 8:30pm. The event will be held at KDJW Stadium (inside Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex) in New Delhi. The Chinese company has already sent out media invites for the event. 

OnePlus 6T launch event in New York will start at 11am local time, which is 8:30pm in India. OnePlus had previously scheduled the global launch event for October 30, which was rescheduled to avoid a clash with Apple's iPad event on the same date in New York.
