OnePlus 6T is the company's mid-year upgrade to its popular OnePlus 6 phone. The new T variant sports a refreshed design from the front thanks to a smaller notch, comes with better camera performance, and a bigger battery. OnePlus 6T also comes with a newer 'Screen Unlock' feature where the fingerprint scanner is placed under the display. OnePlus 6T has a starting price of $549 in the US, which comes to the Rs 40,000 mark in India, but we have to wait till October 30 for the exact India pricing. The phone will go on sale in India from November 2 and is currently open for pre-bookings on Amazon India. OnePlus 6T: Specifications, Features OnePlus 6T has a slightly bigger 6.41-inch display, though it continues with the full HD+ resolution seen on the previous phone. OnePlus 6 had a smaller 6.28 inch display in comparison. However, the notch is now smaller on OnePlus 6T, with a waterdrop design similar to the Oppo R17 series. OnePlus has also removed the LED notification light on the front, and the users can simply lift-up the display to see notifications on their lock screen. The company says this particular featured made the LED notification redundant. It also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on the front, while the earlier one had Gorilla Glass 5. The other big change on OnePlus 6T is that the headphone jack has now been done away with. Still the company is bundling a Type-C to 3.5mm adapter in the box. Other specifications of OnePlus 6T are: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB or 8GB RAM options, and 128GB or 256GB storage. There's no microSD slot like in previous variants. There's no 64GB variant this time around either. OnePlus 6T has a bigger 3700mAh battery, compared to the OnePlus 6 which had a 3300mAh battery. The camera specifications also remain the same on the OnePlus 6T, which has a 16MP+20MP camera combination at the back and a 16MP front camera. OnePlus 6T continues with the same camera sensors as the earlier variant. However, there's a new Nightscape mode to improve low-light photography. Also read: OnePlus 6T review: Does the new upgrade work? OnePlus 6T: Nightscape mode and Screen Unlock The company says Nightscape "is designed to produce true-to-life images in static low-light situations with a high dynamic range." OnePlus 6T stacks 10 shots together at various exposure levels in this mode to create an image which looks sharp and better. However, this also means the processing time is a bit longer than regular auto-mode shots. The other highlight of the OnePlus 6T is the Screen Unlock with the sensor placed under the display. OnePlus claims this has the same level of security as a capacitive sensor and that a screen guard will not impact accuracy of the Screen Unlock experience. However, OnePlus says that they are only recommending official OnePlus Screen Protectors for the phone. If a user reapplies a screen protector, they will likely have to re-register the fingerprint. OnePlus also says the Screen Unlock will continue to work even if the display has small cracks. But in case of major damage to the device's display, users will need to connect with the customer service for further assistance. The 6T continues with the glass design like the OnePlus 6, though right now it is only launching in Mirror Black and Midnight Black. There’s no word on if a white coloured option or a red coloured variant will be introduced later on. OnePlus 6T runs OxygenOS based on Android Pie out of the box with the newer gestures for navigation.
