OnePlus has reportedly delayed its first foldable phone. Dubbed 'OnePlus Open', the upcoming smartphone was rumoured to launch sometime in August, but that might not happen because of a change in the display manufacturer. According to a post by the known tipster Max Jambor on X (formerly Twitter), OnePlus Open was supposed to feature screens manufactured by Beijing Oriental Electronics (BOE) but has now opted to go with Samsung since the South Korean tech giant has a fair amount of experience manufacturing foldable screens for its own phones as well as Google's Pixel Fold and Motorola Razr Plus. Open Launch got pushed back a bit, but no worries the delay is actually good in a way Open was supposed to have a BOE screen but turns out it was 👎🏼 - new panels are from Samsung ✅ Stay tuned for an exciting device! More to follow 🔜 — Max Jambor (@MaxJmb) August 1, 2023 Jambor also iterated that the OnePlus Open might be a rebranded version of the upcoming Oppo device - Find N3. While nothing is official at the moment, rumour has it that the device might have the same aspect ratio as the Oppo Find N2 and could be 11mm thick. Prominent tipster @OnLeaks suggests that the OnePlus Open will have a 7.8-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen and feature Qualcomm's latest chipset - Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Similar to the recently launched OnePlus 11, we might see a Hasselblad-tuned triple camera setup on the rear panel consisting of a 48MP primary sensor backed by another 48MP ultrawide lens and a 64MP telephoto lens, which made its debut on the Oppo Reno 10 Pro Plus (review). While the cover display is expected to get a 32MP selfie shooter, rumour has it that the inner display will have a 20MP sensor, which if true, will beat the 4MP shooter on the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. It is speculated to pack a 4,800mAh battery and offer either 67W or 80W charging, which could be a game changer. Last week, when Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, OnePlusshared a post on X confirming that its upcoming foldable will be called 'Open'.
