Xiaomi Redmi Y3, Redmi 7 India launch highlights: Redmi Y3, Redmi 7 launched with Snapdragon 632

Xiaomi has launched Mi LED smart bulb. It can be controlled via Alexa, google assistant without the need for a bridge. The crowd-funding for this device will begin on mi.com on April 26 at noon.

Redmi 7 is priced Rs 7,999 for 2GB+32GB storage, Rs 8,999 for 3GB+32GB storage. The first sale will be on April 29. The device will be available via Mi.com, Mi home stores and Amazon

Redmi 7 has IR blaster, 2 1 SIM tray card, and P2i coating for splash-proofing.

Redmi 7 has a plastic back with Aura Smoke design. It is available in three colour options-- Lunar Red, Comet Blue, and Eclipse Black.

Redmi 7 has a 6.26-inch HD+ display with Dot Notch design.  It has 19:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Redmi 7 sports an 8MP selfie camera on the front with AI beautification and AI portrait mode.

Redmi 7 has similar rear cameras as seen in the Redmi Y3. It features a 12MP+2MP dual rear camera setup with the same AI Beautification 4.0 feature. It has a 4,000mAh battery.

Redmi 7 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor. Redmi Y3, which has been just launched, also features this processor.

Xiaomi launches the Redmi 7 in India. 

Redmi Y3 will go on sales via Mi.com, Amazon and Mi home stores on April 30, 2019.

Redmi Y3 is priced at Rs 9,999 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant and Rs 11,999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB variant.

All seals on the Redmi Y3 are rubber sealed. The phone is splash resistant. 

Redmi Y3 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor. The phone runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie.

Redmi Y3 sports a 4,000 mAh battery.

Redmi Y3 has a triple card slot with dedicated MicroSD card slot. It has 512GB of support for external storage.

Redmi Y3 has three colour options-- Elegant Blue, Bold Red, and Prime Black. The phone also has Aura Prism Design at the back with Micro Lines. 

Redmi Y3 features a 6.26-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with Dot Notch design. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front.



The display also has a reading mode to filter blue light out at night.

Redmi Y3 has the same aura design as the Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Redmi Y3 has a dual rear camera. The primary sensor is 12MP and the secondary camera is 2MP depth sensor.  The rear camera has Google Lens option in it as well

The company has introduced 1080p video recording on the front camera with EIS support. The phone also comes with 360-degree Face Unlock feature.

Xiaomi promising better low-light selfies with its 32MP front camera. The front camera relies on 4-in-1 pixel binning to improve details in low light selfies.

Redmi Y3 also comes with auto HDR on the front to deal with selfies taken in very harsh lighting for better, more pleasing results, claims Xiaomi. 

Redmi Y3 has Xiaomi’s AI Beautify 4.0 for better selfies. Xiaomi says the AI will focus on the subject when adjusting skin tones, etc. Will remove blemishes, etc. Only subtle changes in this mode.

The selfie camera sensor on the Redmi Y3 is 22.5 per cent bigger than the one on the Redmi Y2.  Xiaomi says that selfies taken on Redmi Y3 can even be printed without any loss in quality.

Xiaomi claims to have sold 7 million units of Redmi Y since it was launched in 2017. 

Xiaomi is aiming at 10,000 retail shops by the end of 2019. The company is aiming for 50 per cent sale from the offline market.

Xiaomi is launching Mi Studio for smaller, tier II cities. Similar to Mi Home, but smaller in size. Jain says that these will be run by partners. Two have been launched in Bombay and Bangalore. 

Jain says that Xiaomi has reached 50 per cent market share in online sales, adding that their offline market share has increased to 20 per cent.
He claims that the company’s offline business has grown 200 per cent in the last one year. Xiaomi says it has launched 1000 Mi Store in India. Plan is to launch 5000 by end of 2019. These Mi Stores are aimed at rural India.

Redmi event starts. Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi India head, is on stage.  He is repeating Xiaomi’s core philosophy, says they have been number one brand for the last six quarters.
"One thing that has helped us is our exponential offline growth," he says.

Xiaomi will start the Redmi Y3 launch event at 12 noon. The company is expected to unveil the Redmi 7 in India, which was launched in China together with the Redmi Note 7 Pro.  Xiaomi Global VP Manu Kumar Jain tweeted a poll asking, "How many products do you think we'll launch today?" The options include 1, 2, 3, and more.
