In addition to his popularity on Twitter and Facebook, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now been listed among the most-viewed Indian CEOs on LinkedIn, the social networking site designed for professional networking.

Even though technically he is not a CEO, PM Modi has been chosen in this year’s ‘Power Profiles’ list for his leadership and entrepreneurial thrust. A technocrat leader, PM Modi, in his Independence Day address, called for bank financing for the growth of start-ups in the country.  The Prime Minister already enjoys more than 14 million followers on Twitter, 30 million fans on Facebook and 6 lakh followers on Instagram.

“With over 1 million followers on LinkedIn, he is featured with other top leaders on the list of most-viewed CEOs in India, continuing to put the nation on the world’s map,” Nishant Rao, country manager, LinkedIn India, said in a blog post.

Along with PM Modi in that list is Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD at Biocon Limited, Rajan Anandan, CEO of Google India, Suman Bose, CEO and MD at Siemens India and Kumud Srinivasan, President, Intel India.

The ‘Power Profiles’ list categorises professionals under eight types – CEOs, Technology, Human Resources, Internet, Finance, Marketing & Advertising, Telecom, Students.

In the ‘Internet’ category, Amit Deshpande, Director at Amazon.com, Gurmit Singh, Managing Director at Yahoo India were among the professionals chosen by LinkedIn.

To draw up the list, LinkedIn has used its member data to derive profile views of individuals in the past one year. Engagement levels were also monitored to arrive at the final list. It has clarified that its own employees were excluded from the rankings.
