For most of the legacy verified accounts, the blue tick mark is still present. (Image Source: Pixabay) Elon Musk-owned micro-blogging site Twitter has silently changed the definition of its blue tick. Just a day before, Twitter has two definitions for it – for legacy verified accounts it said “it may or may not be notable” similarly, for blue subscribers it said “Twitter Blue verified account.”
Now, the micro-blogging site has clubbed both definitions to create a new inclusive definition that says “this account is subscribed to Twitter Blue or it’s a legacy verified account,” which is definitely a much simpler and inclusive definition.
According to the CEO of Twitter (Elon Musk), the legacy verified blue ticks were supposed to be removed on April 1, and it has been the case for select users such as New York Times. For most of the legacy verified accounts, the blue tick mark is still present, and with the latest development, it might not go away at least until Elon Musk changes his mind.
On April 1st, we will begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified checkmarks. To keep your blue checkmark on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue here: https://t.co/gzpCcwOpLp
