Airtel want to validate claims in 4G advertisement

Airtel's response comes on the wake of news reports that the ASCI asking Airtel to withdraw its 4G challenge advertisements.

Bharti Airtel Ltd., India’s biggest telecom operator, on Wednesday said it is engaging with the Advertising Standards Council of India, and provide them with technical data to validate internet speeds as shown in their 4G advertisements.

The New Delhi-based company, in a statement said, it is “following the prescribed process to schedule a review of the said issue,” Airtel said in a statement. “We are confident of getting a favourable response from them.”

Airtel’s response comes on the wake of news reports that the Advertising Standards Council of India had asked the Airtel to withdraw its advertisements promising to pay lifetime bills for a consumer, if the consumer proves their other operator offered higher internet speeds, than its 4G services.

“As the only commercial providers of this world class technology in India, our advertising campaign revolves around the 4G promise of fastest internet speeds and features a set of claims that are based on rigorous test conditions,” Airtel’s statement added.
