As part of the upcoming Prime Day sale, Amazon has added a new device to its Echo range of smart speakers. The latest version of Echo Spot is an Alexa-powered smart speaker with a colour touchscreen that can show weather details, song titles, and can also be used to control other smart devices. The latest Echo Spot is priced at $79.99, making it the most affordable Echo with a screen, available in black, glacier white, and ocean blue shades. During the Prime Day sale (July 17 in the US), the Echo Spot will be available for as low as $44.99. The new Echo Spot (review) offers custom watch faces in fun colours. It has been designed to go well with a nightstand, providing an easier option for users to set or manage an alarm, see the time, and get instant weather updates. Just like its predecessor, it features a semi-spherical shape and has been re-engineered to deliver "better visuals and improved audio quality”. To match the aesthetics of the room or office, the Spot's display can be customized with six different colours such as orange, violet, magenta, lime, teal, and blue, with an option to mix and match the clock face as desired. The new Echo Spot features a 1.73-inch front-firing directional speaker. When music is played, the display will showcase a colourful visual animation. In select markets, the Echo Spot can also make audio calls, as it does not have a camera. Like most recent Echo devices, there is a physical button to mute the microphone, and users also have the choice of deleting all voice recordings at once. For now, there is no information on when the new Echo Spot will be available in India.
