Bad news: $1 million bounty for remote jailbreaking iOS 9 claimed

Hackers can now remotely jailbreak iPhones or iPads running iOS 9.

There is some genius out somewhere who can remotely jailbreak your iPhone. With this discovery, the genius has already claimed a bounty of $1 million. While he gets to party, iPhone users around the globe have now got a serious reason to worry. Zerodium, the firm which buys zero-day exploits like this will most likely sell this exploit. And Apple is yet to discover it.

Zerodium had announced a bounty program, in September, for hackers who could find ways to remotely jailbreak iPhone or iPad running iOS 9. The company has now announced that someone has claimed the bounty- $1 million.

Unlike traditional security bounty programs, in which the findings are used to secure devices or softwares, the Zerodium bounty program is just the opposite.

The exploits would likely be sold to interested parties who can install any application on a compromised device. Participants of this bounty program were required to find an exploit using Chrome or Safari browsers or an SMS or MMS.

The name of winning team and the zero-day exploits have been kept under wraps by Zerodium for obvious reasons.
