DJI, the Chinese company known for making commercial drones recently unveiled the Flip – a lightweight foldable drone that looks more like a mini unicycle at first sight. Aimed at vloggers, the portable drone places itself between the DJI Neo and the DJI Mini.
Users can unfold the drone, launch it from their hand with a single button and even land it back on the hand or opt to choose joysticks to operate the drone. The drone also comes with spoke-like propeller guards made from carbon fibre.

Despite its small size, the DJI Flip is by all means a full-featured drone that can fly for up 30 minutes on a single charge. It also comes with a Flip Parallel Charging Hub that lets you use two batteries at once, meaning you can quickly swap in the spare battery for extended sessions.

Made from lightweight carbon fibre, the DJI Flip comes with a 1/1.3-inch 48MP CMOS sensor with 4x zoom support that is capable of recording 4K HDR videos at 60 fps and can even do 4K slow-mo videos at 100 fps. DJI also managed to pack in its SmartPhoto technology, which helps retain details and enhances clarity.
Some other photography options include 180-degree shots, wide-angle, vertical and even spherical panoramas. If you are into vertical videos, the compact foldable drone can shoot vertical videos in a 4:3 aspect ratio.
The DJI Flip comes with six intelligent shooting modes, which include Dronie, Circle, Rocket, Spotlight, Helix and Boomerang. Weighing just 249 grams, the DJI Flip is currently selling for $439, which roughly translates to Rs 38,000 and comes with a basic RC-N3 joystick controller, which lets you use your phone as a screen. Interested customers can also buy a $779 kit that features three batteries, a carrying case and the DJI RC 2 controller with 700 nits brightness.
