Google Meet, the popular video calling and conferencing app is getting a redesigned call screen, giving the app a modern look and feel. Last year, the tech giant added a new “New” button for enterprise users, and now the feature is rolling out for those on the free tier. As you can see in the screenshot below, the “New” floating button appears at the bottom right corner, tapping on which will take you to a new revamped “Start a call” screen where the “Search contacts or dial” option is now in a pill shaped box. You also get big Create link, Schedule and New group buttons, which are in-line with Google’s Material 3 guidelines. Instead of “Connect on Meet," users will be greeted with “Suggestions” that replaces the list of contacts on Google Meet with huge easy to press buttons. The tech giant also added a new “Code” shortcut on the home screen, which, as the name suggests, lets you quickly enter the meeting code to join video calls. All of these changes are live on Google Meet v266, so if you are unable to see the revamped user interface, update your app to the latest version from the app store. In case the new UI isn’t visible even after installing the update, try stopping and relaunching the app. In August this year, Google Meet introduced a new Gemini powered “Take notes for me” feature that allows users to ask the app to take notes for them. However, it is currently limited to Google Workspace customers.
