Google has launched a News and Weather app for Apple Watch. The app shows only News Headlines for now and has no information on weather. For now, the reviewers are not impressed.

The app’s description says it has articles from over 65,000 news sources. According to this post on MacWorld, the app “is not as slick” unlike other news app for the Apple Watch such as the one designed by New York Times.

The report says that the app “feels like Google hastily slapped together an Apple Watch app just to see what the development process was like.”

Another report on The Verge says, the app lets you swipe between the headlines and the full story never appears on the Apple Watch. Tapping on the story has no results, adds the report and Force Touch lets you add the item to Safari’s reading list.

Google’s News and Weather app for Apple Watch might not do much but it is interesting that the company decided to even go for an app in the first place, given that they have their own Android Wear platform. It remains to be seen, if and when Google will launch a second app for the Apple Watch.
