The main attraction of the show is, of course, the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, the new flagship phones from Google that will feature the company’s own Tensor G3 chip and the most advanced Pixel cameras yet. We’ve already seen a lot of leaks and teasers about these devices, so we’re curious to see what Google has up its sleeve in terms of AI features and software enhancements.
But that’s not all. Google is also rumoured to launch the Pixel Watch 2, a smartwatch that will run on Wear OS 4 and compete with the Apple Watch Series 9. The Pixel Watch 2 will reportedly look similar to the original Pixel Watch but with a more refined crown and IP68 water and dust resistance.

Features like Magic Eraser will be processed offline with on-device generative AI on the Pixel 8 Pro. In the coming months, this AI will also power features like smart compose and smart reply. The Pixel 8 Pro will also feature an on-device imaging model that will help with several functions such as zooming closer than ever before.
Assistant will soon work with Bard, delivering the best of both worlds. Assistant with Bard can function as a full-fledged assistant that would be able to see, hear, and speak. For instance, the tool can dig into your emails to provide you with a summary of them when you summon Assistant. The tool is being rolled out to select testers and will make it to others in the coming months.
The Tensor G3 chip also kicks in when videos are recorded on the new Pixels, processing each frame on a 30 FPS video and applying HDR effects to them. Google compared footage from the Pixels with that of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, showing how the exposure and colours are enhanced. The company promises the best low-light video recording experience on any smartphone with this feature.
Audio Magic Eraser is coming soon to Pixel devices to help remove unwanted sounds from videos you've recorded. The feature uses the Tensor G3's AI capabilities to do so.
Google Pixel 8's call screening feature is more advanced than ever now. It will be able to tell if a call is important or not automatically and take action accordingly. A call that's found to be spam gets hung up automatically while important calls display short descriptions so you can tell what they're about.

While most of the limelight has been stolen by the Pixel 8 Pro, we decided to take a moment to talk about the junior model. The Pixel 8 features a 6.2-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. It runs on Android 14 and is powered by the Google Tensor G3 chipset, which has nine cores and a powerful GPU.
For photography, it has a dual rear camera setup, with a 50 MP main sensor and a 12 MP ultrawide lens. The front camera is a 10.5 MP wide-angle shooter. The Pixel 8 has a 4,485 mAh battery that supports 24W wired charging with PD 3.0 and is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.
Google Pixel 8 Pro is expected to have a new feature: a temperature sensor. The sensor, reportedly a Melexis MLX90632, can measure the temperature of objects and people. Sort of confirming this was a video that was a 360-degree simulator of the phone that was accidentally leaked earlier, showing the sensor on the back.
At the Made By Google event, the company is also expected to officially launch Android 14 and the Pixel series of smartphones will be the first to receive the update. Brands like Samsung, Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi, and iQOO are also working on next-generation skins based on Android 14 OS.
According to reports, the Pixel 8 series could be the first set of Android devices to officially receive 7 years of software update, which is likely to include 4/5 years of major Android OS updates and additional security updates for the remaining period, similar to what Apple offers for its iPhones. Google currently offers three major OS updates and five years of security updates to the Pixel 7 series of smartphones.
The first Pixel watch never made its way to India. Google has now confirmed that the Pixel Watch 2 will be made available in India along with the Pixel 8 series and will soon be available for pre-order on Flipkart. According to the leaks, the Pixel Watch 2 will look similar to its predecessor and is said to be powered by a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip from Qualcomm.
