Humane, a company formed by two former Apple executives, is gearing up to launch the first-ever wearable smartphone replacement. Dubbed AI Pin, the company showcased the product earlier this month at the Paris Fashion Week.
Going by details shared by Time Magazine, which already included AI Pin in its list of ‘Best Inventions of 2023’ before the product launch, shared some more details about the upcoming wearable, it looks like AI Pin will use a “mix of proprietary software and OpenAI’s GPT” and enable users to make phone calls, send texts, ask complex queries using voice. However, it is still unclear if Humane will go with GPT-3.5 or the newer GPT-4.
The wearable will also come with a built-in camera that can help identify things and provide estimated calories when scanning a food item. If you are concerned about privacy, the device will reportedly feature a ‘Trust Light’ that will light up when it is actively using the camera, microphone or other sensors.
Humane has been teasing the AI Pin for months now. In April this year, the company co-founder shared some demos of the upcoming device. Humane had initially planned to share information on what the device does on October 14, but the company seems to pushed back the announcement to November 9.
