Canonical, the commercial sponsor of Ubuntu, has announced that Lenovo will start shipping Ubuntu preloaded devices starting with ThinkPad L450 laptop series this month. The laptops will be on sale at selected commercial resellers and distributors at Rs 40,000.
This is the first joint launch of Lenovo and Canonical in India.

The ThinkPad L450 laptop models come with 14-inch HD displays, Intel Core i3 5005U and i5 52000U processors as well as 4GB RAM and 500GB hard drives.
The long term support Ubuntu 14.04 version will be preloaded into these laptops and will come with five-year support and maintenance.
Prakash Advani, Canonical’s Regional Director, Sales & Alliances – India & SouthEast Asia said Lenovo has a strong presence amongst large enterprises who are increasingly adopting the Ubuntu OS.
Rahul Agarwal, Managing Director, Lenovo India, said through this partnership they hope to strengthen customer relationship by providing multiple OS options and enhance user experience.
