According to a recent report by the South Korean publication The Korea Economic Daily citing industry sources, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is planning to meet LG CEO Choo Joo-Wan to finalise the details of a partnership that will combine the hardware talent of LG with Meta’s expertise in the software department.

The translated version of the article also states that Meta and LG are exploring ways to bring the latter’s smart home appliance operating system ‘webOS’ to the new headset, while Meta will offer LG its AI technologies to let users control appliances via a voice-enabled chatbot. The two are also expected to officially announce their partnership.

While Meta already holds the top spot in the VR gaming niche, the Apple Vision Pro is plausibly the better headset when it comes to productivity. It also discredits previous reports which suggested Meta is planning to discontinue its Quest Pro lineup and instead focus on affordable VR products.

Earlier this month, Mark Zuckerberg claimed that the Meta Quest 3 outperforms the pricier Apple Vision Pro when it comes to comfort, performance and library, terming it as the ‘better product’. While that may be true in some capacity, the Apple Vision Pro has a clear edge when it comes to apps and screen resolution.

While the current generation of Quest Pro headsets feature hand-tracking, a few days ago Zuckerberg confirmed that the upcoming Quest products will offer eye-tracking.
