Announced last year in China, the Honor Magic Vs is a foldable phone that tries to take on the foldable phone market currently dominated by Samsung. Powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, it has a 6.45-inch external display which can be unfolded to reveal a 7.9-inch screen. The back of the phone features a triple camera setup with a 54MP primary, a 50MP ultrawide sensor and an 8MP telephoto lens.

OnePlus 11 Concept

OnePlus unveiled its latest concept smartphone at MWC 2023. Based on the recently announced OnePlus 11, the OnePlus 11 Concept features a liquid cooling solution, similar to gaming PCs. According to the company, the new Active CryoFlux cooling solution will help the phone reduce temperatures by 2.1 degrees centigrade and is said to deliver sustained gaming performance and help improve frame rate by 3 to 4 fps. The solution is also said to reduce the temperature of the phone while charging by 1.6 degrees centigrade.

Xiaomi wireless AR glasses discovery edition

Xiaomi has announced a new pair of AR glasses called the Xiaomi wireless AR glasses discovery edition. According to the company, these AR glasses offer low-latency wireless connectivity, retina-eye near-eye display and support for Xiaomi AR gesture controls. Considering the official render, the Xiaomi wireless AR glasses discovery edition will have multiple cameras and sensors to track the movement.

The frame of the glass is made using magnesium-lithium alloy structure and carbon fibre materials while the lenses use electrochromic technology, allowing users to switch between the virtual world and reality with a single click.

The Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro comes with a circular display and a metal frame. The Watch has a 1.47-inch display with the slimmest bezels and is protected by sapphire crystals and a stainless steel frame. It comes with MIUI WatchOS and it has an Apple Watch-like crown with support for features like Bluetooth phone calls. The Watch S1 Pro supports fast charging and 10 minutes of charging can deliver two days of battery life with a starting price of 299 Euros (Rs 26,214)

The Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro comes with an 11-inch driver with support for high-resolution audio and LDAC and it also supports multi-dimensional audio. It also supports ANC (up to 48dB) with support for crystal clear calls with a three-microphone setup. 5 minutes of charge time can offer 3 hours of music playback and will be available in star gold and space black colours. These are also IP54 rated for water and dust resistance with a starting price of 249 Euros (Rs 21,830).

MIUI 14 details

MIUI 14 is based on Android 13 OS with features like optimising storage space (compressing rarely used apps), it comes with new icons and widgets and the company calls these tabular icons. It also comes with efficient interactive capabilities between Xiaomi devices and will be available out-of-the-box on the Xiaomi 13 series of smartphones and will also be available for other Xiaomi phones in the next few months.

Xiaomi 13 Lite also comes with a 120Hz curved display and a Dynamic Island like notch with a dual front camera system with a 32MP and an 8MP sensor. It also has a dual front LED flash for improving low-light selfies. At the back, there is a triple camera setup with an IMX 766 sensor, and the smartphone is powered by the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC. and the phone is available in light pink, light blue, and black colours. Xiaomi has collaborated with Google to make the 13 series better. Google One Premium 2TB plan 6 months trial will be available for free. Other upcoming Xiaomi smartphones will get a 100GB Google One 6-month subscription for free. Besides, with Google One, Xiaomi 13 series users can also access features like a magic eraser. Google photos and Xiaomi gallery will automatically sync to save device memory.

Xiaomi 13 Pro details

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is available in two colours with a ceramic back panel made out of medical-grade material. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is also IP68 certified for dust and water resistance. The highlight of this phone is the 1-inch main sensor, which is the largest sensor in any smartphone till date. 

It supports 2x lossless zoom by optically cropping the part of the sensor (12.5MP). It also has a dedicated 50MP telephoto lens with a 75mm focal length and it uses focus shift technology, allowing users to retain details on the subject. The device also has macro photography and macro video capabilities.

The Xiaomi 13 is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with a flat frame, similar to the iPhone 14. The device has a triple camera module with Leica branding and it is said to be designed for one-handed usage. Xiaomi 13 will be available in Black, White, and Green colours and the device is also IP68 rated for water and dust resistance. The device has a 93.3 per cent screen-to-body ratio with up to 1900nits of peak brightness and it uses an E6 AMOLED technology with 413ppi and 120Hz refresh rate.

The phone has a triple camera setup with a 50MP wide-angle 50MP ultra-wide angle and a 50MP telephoto lens. Unlike the 13 Pro, it does not have a 1-inch sensor. The primary camera and the 75mm telephoto lens is optically stebilised. All three cameras support Leica photography along with video recording in Dolby Vision format.

New MediaTek chip brings satellite connectivity to all 4G and 5G smartphones

MediaTek recently announced a new chip which will bring satellite connectivity to all 4G and 5G smartphones. The company is also expected to show its 3GPP Non-Terrestrial Network technology at MWC.

The recently unveiled rugged smartphone Motorola Defy 2, also known as Cat S75 in some regions, also features the same chip and lets users send and receive messages via satellite. MediaTek is also expected to give us a sneak peek of its upcoming 5G New Radio Non-Terrestial Network (NR-NTN) technology.

Nokia G22, C22, and C32 budget smartphones announced

Ahead of MWC 2023, HMD Global has launched three budget Android smartphones -- Nokia G22, Nokia C22, and the Nokia C32. The latest Nokia smartphones claim to offer up to 3 days of battery life with improved durability and colourful options. While the Nokia G22 has a back panel made out of 100 per cent recycled plastic, it also comes with two years of promised Android updates. Besides, the device is also IP52 rated for splash resistance and the display on the front is protected by 2.5D curved tempered glass.

The Nokia G22 will be available in Meteor Grey and Lagoon Blue colours with a starting price of 179 Euros or ~Rs 15,600 for the base variant. Similarly, the Nokia C32 and the Nokia C22 are priced at 139 Euros (Rs 12,200), and 129 Euros (Rs 11,300), respectively.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023 officially opens tomorrow, but today many of the brands are holding their major events announcing key products. We expect to see some significant announcements from Xiaomi, Realme, OnePlus, Nokia, and Honor at the event. Xiaomi is unveiling its Xiaomi 13 Pro, which is a new premium smartphone co-engineered in partnership with Leica, the well-known and iconic camera brand. The Xiaomi 13 Pro will mark its global debut later today, and will likely make its way to the Indian market as well.

Meanwhile, OnePlus is also introducing a new 'concept' phone today. The OnePlus 11 Concept phone teasers have shown that the phone could have 'lights' at the back, but we will have to wait and see the exact details once the phone is officially revealed.
