Carl Pei, the CEO of the London-based consumer tech company Nothing, has confirmed that the Phone (1) will receive a Nothing OS 2 update just a day after announcing the launch date for the Nothing Phone (2).

In a tweet, Carl said that software support is very important to them and Nothing OS 2 will be coming to Phone (1) users by the end of August.

The Phone (1) was the first smartphone from the company and was launched back in July 2022. While the phone received an impressive reception for its hardware and unique design, the half-baked software was criticised across the industry.

The company then issued a series of updates, which fixed most of the issues and even released an Android 13-based Nothing OS 1.5, which further stabilised the software on the Phone (1). During the launch, the company said that the Phone (1) would receive three years of Android OS updates and four years of security updates, and the Nothing OS 2 would be the second major update to the device.

Just before announcing the launch date for the Phone (2), the company started teasing Nothing OS 2, which is said to be a lot different from the current version. According to leaks and reports, Nothing OS 2 is said to be completely different from Nothing OS 1 and is likely to be based on the latest Android 14 OS.

While Nothing OS 2 will be made available for the Phone (1) in August, the upcoming Nothing Phone (2), launching on July 11, is likely to ship with Nothing OS 2.
