Remember OnePlus’s first smartphone and its iconic hot-swappable back panels? Especially the Bamboo StyleSwap back cover? You might be able to experience the same on the upcoming OnePlus 12.
According to a Weibo post by Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 12 will be available with a bamboo-like special back panel. He has also shared a half picture of the back panel, featuring a OnePlus logo with a lot of wood grain structure. However, unlike the OnePlus 1’s back panel, the one on the OnePlus 12 will not be hot-swappable.
Given OnePlus’s track record, the Bambo variant of the OnePlus 12 might also come at a later date, which helps the brand to keep the hype around the phone even months after launch.
A few other leaks suggest that the OnePlus 12 will also be available in green and black colours, similar to the OnePlus 11, and these variants are likely to be made out of glass, this time around, the company is speculated to reintroduce features like wireless and reverse wireless charging.
Considering the leaked renders of the OnePlus 12, the device is likely to look a lot similar to the OnePlus 11, with a circular camera island on the back and a large curved display on the front. This time around, OnePlus has confirmed to make use of a new cutting-edge 2K AMOLED screen from BoE, with features like up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, possibly in HDR mode.
The OnePlus 12 is also confirmed to be based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and the smartphone might offer up to 18 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. The triple camera setup on the OnePlus 12 is also getting a much-needed refresh and is confirmed to include Sony’s LYT-808 stacked sensor, similar to the one on the OnePlus Open (review), along with a high-resolution ultra-wide angle lens, and a 64 MP half-inch periscope zoom lens, with support for 3x optical zoom and 6x lossless in-sensor zoom.
