In a post on X, Srinivas said it is currently only available on Mac and Windows devices, and can be pre-ordered for Android devices on the Google Play Store.
While Perplexity launched Comet in July 2025, according to the business, people who depend on the internet for work, research, and other purposes are the target audience for the new browser, which is built on Perplexity’s AI search engine.
In his post, while Srinivas added that the AI search engine will be available for pre-order on Android, the Google Play Store does not display a release date on the marketplace. It’s the same with Apple App Store, which doesn’t display any information about a launch.
Comet Assistant is a feature of the search engine that, as its name implies, functions as an AI agent to assist in automating routine tasks. It can manage all of your tabs, summarise emails and calendar events, and navigate through various web pages on your behalf.
Another way that Perplexity Comet differs from other web browsers, such as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and others, is that it features a workspace where you can easily access all the information you need, rather than a tabbed interface. Additionally, the AI-powered browser keeps track of what you have read, are working on, and are looking at to recommend relevant information.
According to Perplexity, the AI sidebar can also act as an agent. By just giving the AI assistant text-based directions, users may purchase a product, schedule a meeting, or turn a webpage into an email and send it. In the days ahead, Perplexity also intends to expand the browser’s functionality.
