Qualcomm, one of the most popular mobile chipset makers in the world has unveiled the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. The latest from the company is the successor to last year’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, a popular mid-range chipset that made its appearance on several mid-range devices.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is an octa-core processor with a 1+3+4 architecture that consists of a 2.8GHz ARM Cortex-A720 prime core, three Cortex A720 performance cores with speeds up to 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A520 cores that run at a maximum speed of 1.84GHz.
The new chipset has a 12-bit triple ISP with 200MP camera sensor support. You also get Real-time 4K60 Video Super Resolution that helps capture sharp and clear footage when zooming in to subjects, an AI powered autofocus, auto white balance and auto-exposure and hardware stabilisation. It is interesting to note that these features are making their way to the Snapdragon 7 series for the first time.
Like the new flagship Qualcomm chipsets, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 also supports Aqstic Hi-Fi DAC and Expanded Personal Area Network (XPAN), which offers seamless coverage, meaning you will be connected to your wireless earbuds even if the phone is left on a different floor.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is expected to make its debut on the Honor 400, which is expected to launch sometime later this month. Vivo is also rumoured to launch a new phone powered by the new Qualcomm chipset.
