Samsung Internet, the default browser that comes pre-installed on the company's Galaxy smartphones and tablets is now available for Windows PCs. The web browser is based on Chromium and has a layout similar to Google Chrome. First spotted by SamMobile, Samsung Internet is available on Windows 10 and Windows 11 and can be downloaded from Microsoft Store. However, the app page indicates that the browser is only compatible with x64 PCs. The browser is 130MB in size and can be installed on Microsoft Surface devices as well. Similar to its Android counterpart, the internet browser asks users to log in to their Samsung account. It even supports syncing browser data between PCs and phones. However, only browsing history, saved pages, open tabs and bookmarks can be synced at the moment. The web browser still lacks password syncing, but Samsung might add the feature in a future version of the app. The publication also noted that some parts of the browser, like the initial splash screen that appears when you launch the browser, are yet to be translated into English. Samsung Internet also supports ad blockers, and incognito mod and offers both light and dark modes. While the browser should theoretically support extensions from the Chrome Web Store since it is based on Chromium, the install button for extensions is currently greyed out. Samsung Internet also seems to be lagging in the performance department as of now, with some websites loading slowly compared to Chrome and Edge.
