Things aren’t always about having the beefiest battery, the most camera lenses, or the largest display – some people just want a device that won’t bulge out of their pockets or make their wrists sore. There was a brief craze in 2021 for super slim and light phones, but it seems to have sadly faded away. For those still hunting for such phones, there are still several options, and today, we check them out. Motorola Edge 40 (Rs 39,999) From what we can tell, the Motorola Edge 40 is the slimmest and lightest phone launched in 2023. Going heavy on design and aesthetics, the Edge 40 features a flagship-level build with a metal frame, leather back, and curved display. The phone is just 7.6mm thin and weighs 167g. That’s an eye-watering 73g lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, the current title holder for the heaviest non-foldable handset on the market. But design isn’t the only part where this phone shines. For Rs 30K, you also get features like a 144Hz OLED display, Mediatek Dimensity 8020 processor, and a 32 MP selfie camera… not to mention the stock Android experience. Vivo V27 Pro (Rs 37,999) If the Motorola Edge 40 is not your type, the Vivo V27 Pro will serve as an excellent alternative. It’s mostly cut from the same cloth with a thin and light design, but loses the vegan leather back in favour of a more fun, colour-changing one. The frame is plastic. Measuring just 7.4mm thick and weighing 182g, the phone was found to feature near-flagship levels cameras in our review, particularly the one on the front. The Pro model is also powered by the flagship Dimensity 8200 chip, but if the price is too steep, then the non-Pro variant with the Dimensity 7200 may be your pick at Rs 33,000. iPhone 13 mini (Rs 64,900) iPhones often receive flak for their heftiness, but not all of them are built the same. Thanks to its delightfully mini 5.4-inch screen, the iPhone 13 mini manages to weigh just over 140g – you won’t even feel it in your pocket, let alone your hand. But a compact build also means a smaller battery (2,438mAh), so the iPhone 13 mini isn’t exactly known for its longevity. At Rs 64,900, the handset isn't the most value-for-money iPhone model either, so only get it if other models are too large for you. Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE (Rs 22,999) Launched back in 2021, the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE lacks that ‘new phone’ razzmatazz, but considering its feather-weight design, it deserved a mention. The handset measures only 6.8mm at the edges and weighs just 158g – the lightest and slimmest on this list – despite its 6.55-inch display. Performance shouldn’t be shabby either thanks to the Snapdragon 778G 5G chip under the hood. Plus, despite launching with Android 11, the phone was guaranteed to be updated until Android 14 by Xiaomi, so it isn’t hitting the wall just yet. Motorola Edge 30 Fusion (Rs 39,999) Another Motorola? Not a surprise, considering how the brand has been churning out slim and easy-to-handle phones for a while now. Launched in September 2022, the Edge 30 Fusion is a flagship by all means, featuring the yesteryear champ Snapdragon 888+ under the hood and a glass + aluminium build with a curved display. The phone measures 7.5mm thin and weighs 168g, making it a bargain for light phone enthusiasts. Oppo Reno10 The Oppo Reno10 is yet to launch, but its measurements of 7.6mm and 180g make it worth the wait, especially if none of the other phones on this list interested you. The phone features glass on both the back and the front, with a plastic frame in the middle. Like the Vivo V27 Pro, it will feature a 32MP selfie camera, but the older Snapdragon 778G could hold it back considering its expected price of around Rs 30,000.
