Smartphone app launched for medical emergencies

CallAmbulance smartphone app enables emergency service providers to know precisely a patient’s GPS location and health condition.

CallAmbulance, an emergency mobile application integrated with 108 GVK ambulance service has been launched in Hyderabad by Empower Mobility Solutions Private Limited a Hyderabad based start up, founded by former Infosys senior management executives which also introducted Mobile Health Care Platform doctrz.com.

CallAmbulance was formally launched by Telangana Health Minister Dr. Laxma Reddy and it enables emergency service providers/caregivers to know precisely a patient’s GPS location and health condition. “Even before the patient arrives at the emergency care, they already know patient’s condition, get prepared well, thus enabling them to respond faster, quicker and suitably informed,” says Umashankar Kotthuru, Founder, Director, and CEO.

The objective of CallAmbulance app is to help citizens in distress to avail emergency care more efficiently and do so within the Golden Hour and is the first of its kind integrated emergency notification app. It helps patients prone to emergencies get accelerated help from GVK EMRI (108), friends and family. Using state of the art, yet commonly available technologies, a person in distress can use CallAmbulance app and notify GVK EMRI call centre with information about his/her location using GPS on the mobile phone, health history, emergency contacts/family doctors and insurance details etc before patient or attendants call emergency service. All this is done with the touch of a button. Armed with this information, GVK EMRI can validate the information from patient in distress much more efficiently and improve the efficiency of dispatching ambulance to the patient.

The doctor on call at GVK EMRI will have enough information on Patient to guide a treatment procedure remotely if required. Also, the patient’s family and friends are notified on the entire emergency and they can track the patient whereabouts on Google maps with a link that is sent to them as SMS. A historical study of emergencies in India establishes that approx 85 per cent of emergencies fall into these five categories- road accidents, cardiac arrest, neuro stroke, pregnancy and infant care. While road accidents are unpredictable and could happen to anyone, a citizen who has any of the above health conditions can proactively install this app on their mobile and be more ready to face any emergency.

CallAmbulance App is integrated with GVK EMRI service which is spread across 15 states -Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Assam, Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Kerala) and two Union Territories (Diu Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli).
