WhatsApp is introducing a way for users to easily find the people and groups that matter to them. On Tuesday, July 16, the popular instant messaging platform announced that WhatsApp users will be able to mark their contacts or groups as ‘favourites’. By adding them to their ‘favourites’ list, users will be able to filter out those chats from the rest of their contacts on the chat screen. The favourites filter has also been extended to the calls tab on WhatsApp so that users can speed dial their family or friends. All WhatsApp users will have the new feature in the coming weeks, the platform said. Users can add contacts or groups to their ‘favourites’ list in the following ways: - Select the ‘favourites’ filter on your chat screen and select your contacts or groups there. - Go to the calls tab on WhatsApp, tap ‘Add favourite’, and select your contacts or groups. - Go to WhatsApp Settings > Favourites > Add to Favourites. The favourites list can be reordered at any time, WhatsApp said. Besides chat filters, the Meta-owned platform has also been releasing new features meant to safeguard users. Recently, WhatsApp said that it will display context cards when users are added to unknown groups. These cards provide users with additional details about the group such as who added them, when the group was created, and who created it.
