YouTube is getting a new feature which will help creators dub videos in other languages. On Thursday at VidCon 2023, the online video-sharing platform announced that it will be using Aloud, a product from Google’s in-house Area 120 incubator.

Last year, Google introduced Aloud, an AI-powered dubbing product that can automatically transcribe a video and produce a dubbed version of the same. It also offers the option to review and edit the transcription before generating the dub. Until now, content creators had to rely on third-party apps or providers if they wanted to make videos in different languages.

Here’s a video dubbed by Aloud. To change the audio track, simply click on the gear icon, tap on Audio Track and choose the language you want to hear the video in.

Aloud is currently available in English, Portuguese and Spanish, with plans to add more languages such as Hindi and Bahasa Indonesian in the near future.

According to Amjad Hanif, YouTube’s vice president of Creator Products, hundreds of creators have started testing the tool and it will be available to everyone soon. Hanif also added that in future, generative AI would allow Aloud to add functionalities like voice preservation, lip re-animation and emotion transfer.

Last week, YouTube started rolling out ‘1080p Premium’ option for some Android and Google TV users and announced new partner program guidelines for content creators.
