The price point of Rs 6,999 has become a crucial test for most smartphone brands, especially Chinese. Going by consumer trends, the more hardware a brand can offer at this price, the quicker it will sell. After Xiaomi and Yu, it is now Coolpad's turn to have its share of attention from consumers looking to buy a decent smartphone at Rs 6,999. After using the Coolpad Dazen 1 smartphone for almost a week, here is my take. The front is all glass while the back is made of plastic with matte finish. The back cover can be removed to access the SIM card and microSD card slots and the battery is also replaceable. The Dazen 1 is a well built device. It feels solid in the hand. Display: The smartphone features a 5-inch 720p HD display at 320 ppi pixel density. The display is clear and crisp. Outdoor visibility is manageable, however, the glossy display does affects a bit as expected. The veiewing angles are decent as well. Overall, buyers shouldn't have any complains with the display quality. Performance: Coolpad Dazen 1 runs on a 64-bit 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU with Adreno 306 GPU, 2GB RAM, 8GB ROM with support for up to 32GB microSD cards. Overall, the device is pretty smoooth. It scored just above 20,000 on AnTuTu Benchmark. There are no issues with the device and it performs as expected. Based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, the Dazen 1 sports its custom CoolUI. The new UI offers almost the same features like any other interface but looks slightly different. On the UI front, the device is a bit underpowered considering what Xiaomi MIUI 6 has to offer. However, the Dazen 1 offers good gesture tweaks. Camera: The image quality delivered by the Dazen 1 is at par with most other smartphones in this price range. The camera is nothing exceptional but offers decent a deal. However, images were a bit grainy even under good lighting conditions. The front 5 MP selfie camera comes with a beautification meter which can be adjusted as needed. The front camera is capable of taking some decent selfies. Battery: The smartphone is powered by a big 2,500 mAh battery. It easily lasts for over 24 hours with moderate usage. Verdict: At Rs 6,999, Coolpad has come with a decent deal. Overall, the Dazen 1 is a good budget offering and consumers who are keen to buy the Xiaomi Redmi 2 or Yu Yuphoria can seriously consider it.
