Finally, we have an American brand in India to fight the recent Chinese invasion in the smartphone market. After launching the M2 (READ: InFocus M2 review), one of the best budget-friendly smartphones, InFocus is back with its M330 phablet. InFocus M330 has the right combo of hardware and software at the best possible price. The M330 is, perhaps, the only device to offer NFC connectivity at such a low price. After using the M330 for almost a month, here’s the review.

Design: The M330 sports a minimalistic design. It looks simple but feels good to hold. The front is all glass and the rear is covered with a White plastic cover with soft matte finish. The frame is made of metal. The all White soft matte plastic rear cover might get dirty but you can also clean it very easily. I literally used an eraser to wipe clean stubborn ink spots and dirt. The build quality is good, it feels solid in the hands. This 5.5-inch smartphone is lightweight, slim and is comfortable to hold.

Display: This is one of the strengths of InFocus. While the good quality of the cheaper M2 was a pleasant surprise of me, InFocus has again impressed me with the display of the M330. It’s crisp and bright. Outdoor visibility of the M330 is decent. The device sports a 5.5-inch 720p HD display with a pixel density of 267 ppi along with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection. The viewing angles and colours are good. The device is capable of delivering good gaming experience.

Performance: This smartphone is built to perform. The M330 is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 CPU with 2GB RAM and 64GB ROM which can be expanded up to 64GB. The device is smooth and I did not witness any sort of lag. The device scored in the range of 30,000 on AnTuTu Benchmark. Overall, the performance will not disappoint users at all.

Apart from the hardware specs, the M330 packs in decent amount of software features as well. I was a bit annoyed to see folders like Tools and others written in Chinese. While the brand is American, it seems that their product has landed in India directly from a factory in China. The smartphone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system sugarcoated with InLife UI. The UI delivers all necessary apps out-of-the-box. It good to see InFocus delivering a good UI to better the overall experience with the M330.

Camera: The M330 comes with a 13MP rear camera with Sony Exmor R sensor with LED Flash and an 8MP front camera with CMOS sensor. The overall image quality is good. The colours are pretty accurate. In low lighting conditions, the camera delivers decent results. On the flip side, the camera app is not the fastest. It takes time to focus on subjects. Also, you cannot afford to zoom in at all. Even 1.6x zoom will lead to blurry images, especially under low light. The front camera is capable of taking decent selfies.

Battery: The 3,100 mAh battery does an excellent job. The device will easily last over a day with moderate usage. Also, the battery gets charged very fast. The battery life will easily satisfy buyers, at least initially.

Verdict: Good display, performance and camera. The M330 is clearly meant for power users. If you want large display with good battery life and performance, the InFocus M330 is a good buy.
