LG has launched a compact version of its flagship G3 smartphone called G3 Beat at a price of Rs 25,000. The LG G3 Beat has a floating arc metallic design and fast laser auto focus technology as featured in the G3. The phone comes with a 5-inch IPS display and is powered by a 2540 mAh battery. It has a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory and runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS. It mounts an 8 MP OIS+ laser auto focus camera at the back along with a 1.3 MP front camera. It will be available in three colours – metallic black, shine gold and silk black.

In the latest in a series of tablet launches carrying the Intel branding, the chipmaker has tied up with Bangalore-based Notion Ink to launch Cain, the most affordable 2-in-1 computer in the Indian market. The device is powered by Intel Atom Processor Z3735D and runs Windows 8.1. It has a 7900 mAh lithium polymer battery to power the 10.1-inch 1280×800 IPS LCD display. The device also comes with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal memory. It is preloaded with business apps like Office with free one-year subscription and Outlook as well as a wireless keyboard and mouse combo.

Amazon has introduced the all-new Kindle with a faster processor, twice the storage, and a touchscreen interface at a price of Rs 5,999. The new Kindle is available at Amazon.in and will start shipping on October 9. “Our new Kindle is small and light, with weeks of battery life, a 20 per cent faster processor, twice the storage, and a touch interface,” said Peter Larsen, Vice President, Amazon Kindle. “The new Kindle includes all the features readers love—Whispersync, built-in dictionary and new exclusive features like Vocabulary builder, Kindle Freetime and Goodreads integration.

No, it is not a new operating system, but an effort to bring the best hardware-software combo possible at an affordable price. In India, three Android One devices are launched- Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkles V and Spice Dreams Uno and runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS. However, except for minor differences in the design, all these phones are identical as far as specifications go.
