Google has been silently adding new functionality to Gemini on Android for quite some time now, and the latest update makes it even more useful. In a recent blog post, Google announced that Gemini extensions can now be accessed directly from the lock screen, allowing users to make use of the AI-powered digital assistant without having to unlock their device.

How to enable Gemini extensions on the lock screen
The new functionality should be enabled by default for those who have previously used Gemini or Google Assistant from the lock screen. For users who haven’t tinkered with the setting, you will have to manually enable it.
1. To use Gemini extensions without having to unlock the device, open Gemini on your Android device, and head over to ‘Settings’ by tapping on the profile picture from the top right.
2. On the screen that appears, click on “Gemini on lock screen” and turn on the toggle named “Use Gemini without unlocking”.
3. When done, you will be able to trigger Gemini either by using the “Hey, Google” voice command or trigger it by long pressing the power button.
However, some extensions that access your personal information like Calendar and Gmail may still require you to unlock your device.
