Google recently announced that it will be adding several new features to celebrate Messages’ 1 billion RCS users. While the majority of features are not yet available, the tech giant is reportedly rolling out the Photomoji feature that can transform images into stickers and reactions.

According to a recent report by 9to5Google, Google Messages will indicate Photomoji’s availability by showing a circular badge on the emoji button that appears in the message compose field. It can also be accessed from the emoji picker and the emoji bar which pops up when you long-press a text message.

How to create and send a Photomoji

1. If you want to add a new Photomoji, press the Create button placed at the end of the reaction bar or from the emoji picker.

2. Doing so will open the media picker where users will be able to choose the image they want to change to a reaction or sticker. However, the process seems to be automated at the moment and there are manual options to circle the object you want to transform to a sticker or emoji.

3. Now, tap on the ‘Send’ button and the Photomoji will be sent as a reaction. If you want to send a Photomoji as a sticker, the pane will show a bigger preview.

Google also seems to have added a new custom tab that appears next to the emoji tab. This section stores all sent and received stickers and emojis created by Photomoji. The feature is currently being rolled out to the beta version of Google Messages, so you might have to wait a while before it appears on your device.
