Google Photos, the popular online service that lets you store, edit, organise and share photos and videos is getting a new feature called “Undo device backup.” Previously available on iOS devices, the functionality allows users to remove photos and video from Google Photos without deleting them from the device they were backed up from. Also, when the cloud backup is deleted, the Google Photos backup feature will be automatically disabled for the device. How do I use Google Photos’ ‘Undo device backup’ feature? Open Google Photos on the Android device you want to delete backup from and tap on your profile picture from the top right. Now, tap on ‘Photos Settings’, head over to the Backup section and scroll down a bit to find an option named ‘Undo backup for this device’. Proceed to tap on the tick box next to ‘I understand my photos and videos from this device will be deleted from Google Photos’ and click on ‘Delete Google Photos backup’. One thing to note here is that Google might still be rolling out the new option to everyone, so you might have to wait a while before it is available on your account or device. Compared to the previous method, which involved turning off backup for a device and heading over to the Google Photos website to delete photos and videos, the new option is comparatively hassle free.
