Android, the world’s most popular operating system for mobile devices offers several customisation options. However, with phones taking a huge chunk of your time every day, you might want to make it less distracting.

This is where these minimalistic launchers come in. Not only do they offer easy access to information and favourite apps, but also help you reduce your phone usage. Since the Google Play Store is filled with tons of apps, here’s a hand-picked list of minimalistic launchers you can download right now.

LessPhone

LessPhone is hands down one of the most minimalistic launchers for  Android. Unlike normal launchers, which allow users to create multiple home screens, LessPhone has a single home screen from where you can access your favourite apps.

On the top, you get a widget that shows the time and date along with the remaining battery. While you can add your most used apps to the home screen, there is no app drawer, meaning you cannot simply search and open any other apps other than the ones on the home screen.

The free version of the app lets you add up to four apps to your home screen, but the paid version bumps up the limit to eight. It also enables the dark mode. If you are looking for a launcher that prevents you from using your phone and want to go on a digital detox, LessPhone is one of the best ways to do so.

Want a LessPhone-like experience but with slightly more features? Try Minimal Productivity Launcher, a free app that boasts a minimal home screen but lets you open any app you want.

On the home screen, you get a bunch of widgets like date, time, year and day in progress. You can add your favourite apps to the home screen by swiping right to open the app drawer, long pressing on any app and tapping the ‘Add to home screen’ option.

This launcher also lets you select from a handful of colourful themes in case you are bored of the usual black-and-white colour schemes.

By default, Minimal Productivity Launcher does not show app icons, but you make them visible and even change the icon pack from the app settings. Another useful feature is the ‘Show app usage’ option, which, as the name suggests displays the time you have using an app that day.

Olauncher

Olaucnher is another minimalistic launcher that is designed to make you spend less time on your phone. Similar to LessPhone, it has a single home screen with a clock and calendar widget on the top and a list of your favourite apps on the bottom. Swiping down from any part of the screen will trigger the notification bar, whereas swiping up will open the app drawer.

Unlike other launchers where you need to type the name of the app and tap on the icon to open it, Olauncher automatically opens the app as you type its name, making the whole process a lot smoother.

You can also change the number of apps on the home screen by heading over to the app settings, which can be done by long-pressing any part of the screen. If you are bored of the black background, there is an option that changes the wallpaper everyday. All in all, this is one of the best minimalistic Android launchers with a practical approach.
