India has established itself as the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world, experiencing a remarkable year-on-year growth rate of 15% in 2018. Additionally, the number of incubators and accelerators has seen an increase of 11%, according to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

The report by Global Data reveals that from January to August 2024, Indian startups have raised USD 7.5 billion through venture capital funding.
S&P Global Market Intelligence predicts that India’s nominal GDP will nearly double to more than $7 trillion by fiscal 2030-31, up from $3.6 trillion in fiscal 2023-24, forecasting India to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2030, with multinational organisations projecting India as a “bright spot” on the global economic horizon.
It’s noteworthy to mention, that two Indian cities have been featured among the top 50 startup cities globally by PitchBook, with Bengaluru and Mumbai leading the way forward as India’s startup cities.
LinkedIn recently released its seventh annual top startups list for India, highlighting the nation’s emerging companies based on their data.
Top 10 emerging Indian startups in 2024
E-grocery startup Zepto, in 2023, became the first startup in the country to cross the billion-dollar valuation mark in nearly a year and now leads as LinkedIn’s top Indian startup of 2024.
In another noteworthy mention, Zepto’s founders, Kaivalya Vohra (21) and Aadit Palicha (22) have emerged as the youngest billionaires in India, with a net worth of INR 3,600 crore and Rs 4,300 crore, respectively, according to the 2024 Hurun Rich List.
LinkedIn’s annual list of Top Startups in India in 2024 ranks emerging Indian startups in 2024, with “these companies aren’t just growing fast and garnering attention from investors and jobseekers—they’re also building innovative solutions that are shaping the future of their industries,” the report mentions.
