Attending the Oscars for the first time, Raye had a major moment to live up to. The “Oscar Winning Tears” singer-songwriter took on Adele’s powerful ballad Skyfall as part of a special James Bond tribute, closing out the segment with her own rendition of the iconic song.

After the performance, Raye opened up on social media about the experience, admitting she was nervous to take on such a beloved track. “No one can sing Adele like Adele, but I tried my very best,” she shared. She also expressed her gratitude for the opportunity, writing, “I am just so grateful to the Oscars Academy for this invitation to sing on this stage.”

Originally recorded by Adele for the 2012 Bond film Skyfall, the song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, making it Adele’s first—and so far only—Oscar win.
