‘Rapido driver tried to stab me’: Bengaluru man claims argument over AC in car almost killed him

A Bengaluru man was left shaken after an argument with a Rapido cab driver over air conditioning allegedly turned violent. Sharing the details of the incident on Reddit, the man claimed that Nagaraj R, the driver, demanded that he exit the car and cancel the ride. He also claimed that when he refused to leave the vehicle, the driver allegedly turned his keychain into a sharp mini knife and held it against his chest.

“In that moment I was shocked and scared and immediately told him that let’s go to a cop and pointed at a traffic cop across the road,” the viral Reddit post read. The man mentioned that he managed to escape and later filed a police complaint.

However, he also claimed that he started receiving repeated OTP messages, which he believes were sent by the driver. “I have been OTP bombed repeatedly, clearly the driver doing this as he has my number and a bone to pick with me,” the man wrote.

“Police calls driver. He said he was at the Rapido office. Police warned him to stop harassing and will call him once the complaint is filed to the station. Driver claimed he has done nothing and ‘never even got out of the car’,” the post read.

The man said he hoped that CCTV footage would reveal the truth.

In an update, the man claimed that Rapido refused to accept his complaint and denied the harassment allegations. “They allegedly checked the driver’s phone and found no evidence of my number being shared. Meanwhile, Rapido has not responded to my Twitter complaint,” he wrote.

The man also claimed that Rapido offered him “compensation” to remove his post. “Some conversations around compensation for removal of complaint from social media took place, but it was fairly insignificant and a bit cringe so I won’t get into it,” the man wrote on Reddit.
