
Thalapathy Vijay starrer GOAT (The Greatest of All Time) hit the silver screen on Thursday. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the action flick released in several theatres across Tamil Nadu after the production house––AGS Entertainment––requested the state government to increase the number of screenings. A video of fans outside a theatre in Madurai, bursting crackers on the street, is now doing rounds on the internet.

Reacting to the video, a user commented, “Unreal craze for Thalapathy Vijay.” Another user wrote, “the craze of Cinema and Actors in South is sometimes too crazy, but this is the place that’s truly carrying Indian Cinema at the moment.”
“GOAT would be very good movie… Next week I would plan to go because initially it would be difficult to get tickets in Tamil Nadu,” a third user commented.
Vijay has a double role in GOAT, his penultimate film before entering politics full time. The movie also has Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Sneha, Jayaram, Laila and Ajmal Ameer.
According to the Times of India, the first show in Tamil Nadu was scheduled to start at 9 AM. AGS Entertainment had urged the Tamil Nadu government to hold a special show across the state on its release day. The First Day First Show (FDFS) of GOAT began as early as 4 am in Kerala, Karnataka, and the USA. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, screenings began at 6 AM.
