A video of a leopard’s head stuck in a metal vessel is doing rounds on the internet. According to ANI, the incident took place in the Dhule district of Maharashtra and left the big cat helpless for five hours.

The forest department launched a rescue operation and freed the leopard from the metal vessel. The video shows the animal lying with its head stuck in the vessel inside a shelter. Forest department officials carefully cut the metal vessel and freed the leopard. Sharing the video on X, ANI wrote, “Maharashtra: A male leopard spent five hours with its head stuck in a metal vessel in a village in Dhule district was later rescued by the Forest Department: RFO Savita Sonawane.”

The video amassed more than 55K views and several reactions from social media users. In reaction to it, a user hailed forest department officials and wrote, “Great work! Kudos to the team.” Another user commented, “At 0.35sec, that look and growl of wilderness.”

“(T)hank God he was rescued,” commented a third.

In February this year, a leopard was spotted in a Faridabad colony, Haryana, triggering panic among residents. Following the spotting of the animal, a search operation was launched and it took almost 11 hours to rescue it.

As per the “Status of Leopards in India 2022”, a report released by the Union Environment Ministry on February 29, there are an estimated 13,874 leopards in India.
