There was a time when internships came with learning, mentorship, and sometimes a decent stipend to keep your daily caffeine fix going. But in 2025, the hustle has hit new lows — from unpaid internships disguised as “golden opportunities” to stipends that barely cover a packet of Maggi, the bar keeps slipping. The latest to go viral? A Mumbai-based company’s internship listing, offering a stipend of just Rs 10 per month. Naturally, the internet caught fire.

Take a look at the post:

However, there’s a twist in the tale. Faclon Labs, the company named in the viral job post, has clarified that the Rs 10 stipend was an error — the actual stipend is Rs 10,000 per month. According to a LinkedIn post by Manoj Kumar, Faclon Labs stated that a bot from Naukri.com had mistakenly crawled and posted incorrect data. “Arey bhai, Faclon Labs ne clear kar diya hai Rs 10/month nahi, Rs 10,000/month hai actual stipend,” he wrote, adding that the company is offering a solid internship with potential full-time roles. Faclon Labs also confirmed to indianexpress.com in a mail that the internship post wasn’t made by them directly but appeared erroneously through Naukri.com’s bot. They are currently working with the platform to have it removed.

But before the correction came, the memes was already done. Social media was quick to respond, with reactions ranging from outrage and disbelief to pure comic gold. The idea that an internship requiring backend development, AI, DevOps, machine learning, JavaScript, and MongoDB could come with a Rs 10 stipend sparked a flood of comments and jokes.

Even more shocking to netizens was the fact that over 1,900 people reportedly applied for the listing, proving once again just how intense the competition is — and how desperate the job market can feel for freshers in tech.
