Heavy rainfall in several parts of the country has led to loss of life and property. Waterlogging caused by the downpour has cut off roads, and disrupted normal lives in many areas.
About 16 people lost their lives as heavy rains caused floods in the state of Telangana so far. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy Tuesday visited flood-hit areas in Suryapet and Khammam districts.
Reddy noted: “Old Khammam, Warangal and Nalgonda districts suffered severe damage. Crops have been damaged in lakhs of acres, canals and ponds breached, road network cut off and electric substations and electric poles also damaged. Preliminary estimation indicated a loss of Rs 5,438 crores in property damages.”

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

The Telangana government has sought an immediate assistance of Rs 2,000 crore from the Centre after assessing the damage from the heavy rainfall. Reddy also announced an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each to the kin of those who were killed in the rain-related incidents.
Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, the National Disaster Response Force has put to use six helicopters and drones to drop food packets, water bottles and other basic necessities for people in flood-affected areas of Vijayawada.
According to ANI, the water levels in Prakasam barrage in Vijayawada rose following incessant rainfall in the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema and interior Karnataka on Tuesday.
Gujarat
Incessant rainfall in Gujarat left several roads in Gandhinagar and Bharuch waterlogged, ANI reported. While Tapi, Navsari, Bharuch, Dang, Surat, Sabar kantha, and Ahmedabad received heavy to very rainfall on Monday evening, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Gujarat region on Tuesday.

In Rajasthan’s Udaipur, moreover, commuters faced difficulties while traversing through the inundated roads after heavy rainfall in many areas of the city led to waterlogging, news agency PTI reported.
Maharashtra
With heavy rains in parts of Marathwada region since Sunday, at least four persons have lost their lives in rain-related incidents so far. Over 200 people were relocated and nearly 90 were rescued from flooded areas in Hingoli.
Light to moderate rainfall is very likely to continue over parts of Northwest India, including Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh during the week.
On the other hand, in eastern and north-eastern parts of India, isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar and Odisha over the next couple of days.
